One More Moment
Behind the Lines
For this piece of writing, I really had to read into the documented experiences of refugees from all around the world. As the world continues to turn and I am fortunate enough to not know a life of unrest, the current events going on in places such as Palestine truly make my heart ache. Although I chose to focus on the fictional story of a Syrian refugee, I felt as though I wanted to make sure I didn’t misrepresent the horrific experiences of those seeking a life of safety. This story plays with the perspectives of the main protagonist, as it transitions from ‘normality’ to life travelling across the sea. This piece aimed to channel the bravery and hardships of those who have experienced such events in their life – whilst reiterating the precious nature of ‘one more moment’ with those we love.
